The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency now covers Avastin treatments for patients with advanced colorectal cancer who meet the treatment criteria.

Saskatchewan’s home care program helps people remain at home for as long as possible. It also prevents unnecessary hospital admissions and facilitates earlier discharge.

Health regions provide funding directly to approved individuals (or their guardians) to arrange and manage their own support services.

Services

Health regions provide home care services in Saskatchewan. Services are provided on the basis of assessed need and are intended to help people who need acute, palliative and supportive care to remain independent at home.

Primary home care services include:

  • assessement;
  • case management and care coordination;
  • nursing;
  • homemaking that includes personal care, respite and home management; and
  • meal service.

Additional home care services may include:

  • home maintenance;
  • volunteer programs such as visiting, security calls and transportation; and
  • therapies when available.

Home care fees are established based on income.

For more information, contact the director of community services or the manager of home care for your health region.

Or, call the Ministry of Health's Community Care Branch at (306) 787-4587.
